ISTE approved STTP-Human Computer Interaction
Department of Computer Science and Engineering in collaboration with Indian Society for Technical Education has successfully organized a Short Term Training Program on Human Computer Interaction: Learning today?s technologies for building tomorrow?s interfaces from July 4 to July 15, 2022. The successful organization of the STTP event was put in order by Dr.Saurin Parikh, Coordinator and Prof. Daiwat Vyas, Co-Coordinator. Many eminent speakers from Industry and Academia from India and across the world, have imparted knowledge on the current scenarios of HCI and its applications. The major objectives of the STTP included :
- Learn about the present scenario of human computer interaction; post-Covid and the need of developing applications with novel interfaces using suitable interaction styles.
- Know about the existing HCI technologies and hardware available for developing the HCI applications.
- Realize the research / technology development areas of HCI related to mixed reality, natural language and brain computer interfaces.
- Apply the concepts of HCI for building application use-cases in the areas of industrial applications, consumer research, healthcare, neuroscience, education, sports & fitness and etc.
The major content covered in STTP were :
- Human Computer Interaction (HCI): study of evolution of interfaces, content capture technologies, network technologies and interaction styles, need of designing novel interfaces for today?s applications ? post Covid redefining the way we interact with computing systems, design methods and user experience.
- Eye tracking: Tracking how users read, perceive a scene or perform a visual search using an eye tracker, Eye Tracking API, hardware and software needed to develop eye tracking applications.
- Brain Computer Interface (BCI): BCI methods and Tools, BCI applications in robotics, assistive technology, mental health and education.
- Haptics: Computer haptics, Cutaneous and Kinaesthetic haptics and its applications.
- Immersive environments: augmented reality, virtual reality, mixed reality, its tools and technologies and applications in industry, medical science, sports & fitness and education domains.
- Multimodal interaction, its issues and applications. HCI challenges: socio-cultural aspects, privacy, security, usability and governance issues of HCI applications and its legal implications.
