The Computer Science and Engineering Department, School of Technology, Nirma University, extends its sincere gratitude to Dr Rachit Chhaya, DAIICT, Gandhinagar for delivering an insightful expert lecture on “Randomised Algorithms for Big Data Analytics” for the B.Tech Semester VII students on 29th July 2026.
The session beautifully demonstrated the indispensable role of mathematics in modern computing and provided valuable insights into large-scale linear regression, Randomized Numerical Linear Algebra (RandNLA), sketching, and sampling techniques for solving regression problems efficiently.
Dr. Chhaya also explained how data-oblivious randomization techniques enable scalable computation by reducing data dimensionality while preserving essential mathematical properties, making them highly effective for processing massive datasets. The lecture successfully bridged strong mathematical foundations with real-world big data challenges, inspiring students to appreciate the significance of advanced algorithms in data-intensive applications.
