Overview

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) endeavors to meet the challenges of changing technology and Industry 5.0. The Department is equipped with talented pool of faculty members, meritorious students and state of the art infrastructure. The Department offers BTech in Computer Science and Engineering, BTech in Computer Science and Engineering (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning) and 3 MTech programmes – MTech in Computer Science and Engineering, MTech in Computer Science and Engineering with specialisation in Cyber Security and MTech in Computer Science and Engineering with specialisation in Data Science, Master of Computer Applications (MCA), and Ph.D. Programmes. Under the NEP scheme, the Department also offers interdisciplinary minors in Data Science, Computer Science and Software Engineering to students of other programmes. The Department also offers disciplinary minors in Adaptive AI and Cyber Security. The students have the opportunity to study a series of courses based on their area of interest. In addition to basic computing facilities, the Department has established advanced laboratories housing high end workstations, NVIDIA Volta and Pascal GPU systems, CISCO networking equipment, IoT devices, HCI devices and specialised software for cyber security and forensics. The Department has strong collaboration with many research organisations and leading industries like ISRO, INS-Valsura, PRL, IPR, BISAG, Infosys, CISCO Network Academy, Johnson Control Hitachi Air Conditioning India Limited, Indian Air Force etc. for academic and research activities. Linkages with top notch universities abroad has also facilitated internships, pre-approved MS programmes, and faculty exchange. Centre of Excellence in Data Science is also established in the Department in association with the State University of New York (SUNY) at Binghamton, US since 2020. The Department takes pride in its alumni presence in the Multinational Companies like Google, Amazon, Facebook, Oracle, Intel, Morgan Stanley, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, HSBC, Commvault, Bosch, Bloomberg LP and many more.

1. Engineering Knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, natural science, computing, engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialization as specified in WK1 to WK4 respectively to develop to the solution of complex engineering problems.

2. Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions with consideration for sustainable development. (WK1 to WK4)

3. Design/Development of Solutions: Design creative solutions for complex engineering problems and design/develop systems/components/processes to meet identified needs with consideration for the public health and safety, whole-life cost, net zero carbon, culture, society and environmental as required. (WK5)

4. Conduct investigations of Complex Problems: Conduct investigations of complex engineering problems using research-based knowledge including design of experiments, modelling, analysis and interpretation of data to provide valid conclusions. (WK8)

5. Engineering Tool Usage: Create, select and apply appropriate techniques, resources and modern engineering & IT tools, including prediction and modelling recognizing their limitations to solve complex engineering problems. (WK2 and WK6)

6. The Engineer and The World: Analyze and evaluate social and environmental aspects while solving complex engineering problems for its impact on sustainability with reference to economy, health, safety, legal framework, culture and environment. (WK1, WK5 and WK7)

7. Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics, human values, diversity and inclusion; adhere to national and international laws. (WK9)

8. Individual and Collaborative Team Work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse/multi-disciplinary teams.

9. Communication: Communicate effectively and inclusively within the engineering community and society at large, such as being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations considering cultural, language, and learning differences.

10. Project Management and Finance: Apply knowledge and understanding of engineering management principles and economics decision-making and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, and to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.

11. Life-Long Learning: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability for (i) independent and life-long learning (ii) adaptability to new and emerging technologies and (iii) critical thinking in the broadest context of technological change. (WK8)

  • To apply the theoretical concepts of computer engineering and practical knowledge in analysis, design and development of computing systems and interdisciplinary applications
  • To work as a socially responsible professional by applying computer engineering principles and management practices

The Program Specific Criteria (PSC) are as below:

1. Ability to apply the concepts related to Mathematical foundations, Data Structure, Algorithms, Theory of Computation and Language processors.

2. Ability to apply the concepts related to Computer Organization, Networking, Operating Systems, Database Systems, Artificial Intelligence and applications.

3. Ability to apply the concepts related to Procedural and Object-Oriented Programming, System Programming, Web and Mobile technologies.

4. Ability to apply the concepts of Computer engineering for industrial applications through knowledge of Software engineering, Cyber Physical Systems, Security, High Performance Systems and Data Analytics.
